Basic Language Arts 1 is an intervention-focused and small group instruction Language Arts class for 6th grade students. This format allows for more individualized instruction and support for students at their skill level. The Language! reading and grammar program and Lexia an reading online program, will be used on a regular basis in the classroom. Writing will occur on a daily basis, and will include instruction from the Step Up To Writing and 6 Traits Writing program. Regular spelling tests will be taken from a researched-based spelling program called Language! and content-area high frequency words. Small group instruction will occur on a daily basis.
