M.A. English Education B.A. Elementary Education

Ms. Alexis Nulsen

Greetings!

I am Ms. Nulsen. I am teaching English Language Arts and College Composition this year. This is my first year at Highland and I am SO excited! The administration, teachers, support staff, and students have been so welcoming. Before coming to Highland, I taught for Colorado State University and Colorado Community Colleges.

To let you know a bit about me, I love all things outdoors! Whether I am fishing, camping, backpacking, golfing, snowboarding, or anything else in between I am in my (other than teaching) happy place. I also enjoy reading, crafting, and playing video/computer games from time to time.

I am pleased to say that I have a colorful educational background. I first went to Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. I transferred from Mesa Community College to the University of Arizona in Tucson where I completed my B.A. in Elementary Education. I was fortunate to spend the second half of my student teaching abroad, teaching English as a Foreign Language, in Liyang, China. Shortly after coming back to the states and graduating, I moved to Fort Collins where I completed my M.A. in English Education at Colorado State University.

With my qualifications, I have been able to partner with Aims Community College and Highland High School to offer the concurrent enrollment course for College Composition. I am beyond excited to offer this course and use my expertise in writing and communication to start your student's college career.

I am always happy to answer any questions or concerns. Don't hesitate to email me.

Thank you for reading and I look foward to working with you and your students this year!
