Grading for middle school PE will be based primarily on students' participation, effort, behavior, preparedness, sportsmanship and attitude, and how it relates to each of the 5 categories shown on the above document. There will be three categories that students will earn daily points in. Participation, Behavior, Sportsmanship. These areas are each worth 5 points a day, giving students a total of 25 points possible for daily work. There will also be points to be earned from fitness testing, skills tests from different sports and unit tests.

Participation- This includes; dressing out (changing out of school clothes to PE clothes and back again). having appropriate PE clothing, shorts or sweats, shirt and athletic shoes. Giving full effort during exercises, running and games, and participating in all games and activities.

Behavior- Following all class rules, being a respectful and proper student.  (Chewing gum, eating food, talking out of turn, horseplay, misuse of equipment, etc) are examples of poor behavior.

Sportsmanship. This includes being a good sport, and teammate. Showing cooperation and team work during all activities.

Points for these categories are all or nothing. If a student is not doing something that justifies loss of points, all 5 are lost for that category.

Tardiness- Being tardy to class will result in losing half of the daily points. This means the class has begun warmups and a student is not in their spot. This will also result in a reported tardy with the office. Three tardies will result in a folder pull.

** Please Note- proper shoes are some form of athletic shoe. I am happy to tell students what I will allow if they are concerned.

Inappropriate footwear includes: Boots (work, cowboy, hiking), heels, flats, sandals, flip flops and Crocks
