First Grade Reading

At Highland, we use the literacy curriculum Open Court. The primary focus of Open Court is having students become confident readers. We will focus on print awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, inquiry, and language arts. We will cover themes like "Be My Friend" and "Animals from Head to Toe". Open Court offers multiple ways for teachers to meet student needs.
